Authority

The most important point to remember about web information is that anyone with the know-how and technology can post information on a web page. How will you know if what you find comes from someone who really knows what they're talking about?

In general, you should determine the author, his/her expertise, and the reputation of the individual and the company/association/university/organization. Usually pages that are purely personal have less immediate validity than those that are associated with a credible organization such as a government agency, an educational institution, a non-profit organization, or a well-known company.
