Retrieve items

Once you have a list of items owned by your library, their call numbers, and identified the location of items not in the regular stacks, your next step is to retrieve those items.

Call numbers are the way you do this because they tell you the specific place and the specific shelf on which an item should be found. Like street numbers for houses, call numbers tell you where to find something.

Items in specialized collections are also in call number sequence and they may have a location code at the beginning of the call number.

The Using Call Numbers module contains links to web documents which explain in detail how to read call numbers.
