Use access tools to find information sources

Using faculty web pages to find specific information sources

College and University faculty members are experts on particular subjects. Many of them maintain web sites of reliable and useful information on their subject. These web sites have a narrow focus reflecting the research expertise of the faculty member.

  1. Select a College or University which has a department that covers your subject area
  2. Go to that Department's web site
  3. Look for a list of faculty web sites
  4. Select those faculty members who appear to be experts on the general subject of your topic
  5. Look through that faculty member's web site for relevant information and links
NOTE: Not all faculty members maintain informational web sites

If you have trouble identifying a college or university department which covers your topic, or can't find a faculty member's web site, ASK A LIBRARIAN.
